Friday: Guided/Led Class from 6:30am-8:00am (ask the instructor – Geoff – for more details)

Saturdays: 7:00am–8:45am

Full and New Moon days: Observed as rest days and no classes will be scheduled

Mysore BC is an Ashtanga Yoga program led by Geoff Mackenzie. Geoff has been practicing yoga-asana since 1998 and following the Ashtanga Yoga method exclusively since 2004. He began his annual travels to study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois and family in India in 2006. Since 2010 and 2012 respectively, he has been Authorized to teach the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga by his teacher R. Sharath Jois, Director of the KPJAYI in Mysore, India.

Ashtanga Yoga as taught at KPJAYI, MysoreShri K Pattabhi Jois’ Ashtanga Yoga practice is a method of self-purification, which combines specific postural, breathing and focusing techniques to bring about cleansing of the body, nervous system and mind. The method is designed as a daily practice and is taught individually to each student, at a pace which suits their unique station in life. In a "Mysore-style" class students are taught individually, one-to-one, in a friendly, focused and supportive group setting. Each student memorizes the posture sequencing, progressing at their own pace and according to their own unique circumstances. Among many benefits, this creates a calm and meditative class environment in which the teacher can move around freely to quietly assist each student when required.

Session Details

*Students are encouraged to start at the beginning of each session and complete each full month.

All New Students/Beginners are kindly requested to contact Geoff prior to visiting Mysore BC. Students without prior experience of the method will be invited to observe a practice session before any study commences.

Doors open 5:45am. Latest start time is 8:00am.

We vacate the BE facility promptly at 9:00am.

Students are expected to arrive at such a time as allows them to complete the practice they have been taught so far, including a ten-minute rest, before the class session ends.

Geoff Mackenzie

Vancouver-based Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher Geoff Mackenzie is a firm believer in the highly adaptable and therapeutic nature of yoga practice. As such, he always places the needs of each individual student first and foremost.

Breath/mind/body awareness, effective vinyasa methodology and hands-on assistance in key postures are all foundational components of his classes.
