DESCRIPTION:This event offers the opportunity to go on a deep dive through the experience of a sound bath meditation\, connection and reflection! \nFriday\, January 3 · 7 – 10pm PST \nOVERVIEW: \nThis is your invitation to January’s THE SALON seasonal social. \nJoin us for the fourth installment that will continue quarterly on the first Friday night of January\, April\, July and October of 2025. \nThis month\, we will start the evening together with a 45 min. yoga practice followed by a 75 min. immersive sound bath and guided meditation experience. \nThere will then be an opportunity to linger in the beautiful effects of the sound bath —> reflect\, connect with one another\, have a cup of tea\, do some journalling or art\, pull an affirmation card and mingle. We have created this container to be slow and generous of time. \nWHAT TO EXPECT: \n\nYoga practice led by Special Guest Hiiro Prince\nFollowed by Sound Bath and Guided Meditation led by Faye Mallett and Lyn Sakari\nSpace for reflection via optional journalling and art prompts\, conversation\, quiet contemplation.\nTea and Time to Connect\n\nWHAT TO BRING: \nFor your comfort\, wear warm layers and bring a yoga mat\, blanket and cushion too if you wish. The first half of this community gathering is an immersive sound bath and guided meditation experience. \nThe second half of the evening will be an opportunity to linger in the beautiful effects of the sound bath —> reflect\, connect with one another\, have a cup of tea\, do some journalling or art\, pull an affirmation card and mingle. Faye’s work explores how sound facilitates personal transformation by balancing the mind and body. October 13th · 6 – 8pm PDT \nDearest friends\, \nOn this auspicious evening of the conclusion of Navaratri Festival (a celebration of the powerful and loving forms of Feminine Consciousness)\, you are being welcomed to an enchanting evening of divine INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC with SANTOOR Maestro Ustad Kiranpal Singh ji (Senior Disciple of Padmavibhushan Pandit Shivkumar Sharma ji)\, accompanied by Hriday Buddhadev ji on TABLA. \nIn ancient texts\, the Santoor (a hammered dulcimer) has been referred to as shatatantri vina (100-stringed vina) used to accompany folk music\, played in a style of music known as the Sufiana Mausiqi. Some researchers slot it as an improvised version of a primitive instrument played in the Mesopatamian times (1600–900 B.C.). Sufi mystics used it as an accompaniment to their hymns. Pandit Shivkumar Sharma ji (Guru of Ustad Kiranpal Singh) is credited for introducing this instrument to Indian Classical Music. The one-hour-long rendition of Raga Yaman at his first live performance in 1955\, left his audience in Mumbai shouting ‘Encore!’.
