SUMMARY:Expressive Arts and Conscious Movement Journey at Ride the Rhythm
DESCRIPTION:This Expressive Arts and Conscious Movement evening is an invitation to explore self-expression through movement\, creativity\, and presence.\n\n\n\nOn March 13th\, Johanne Ascoli and Hassti Hamidi will co-create a gentle\, guided space where creativity and movement meet. \nTheme of the evening is: \nTending the Soil Within: The Space Between Seed and Emergence \nCome move with the intelligence of your body\, with the wisdom of the Earth\, with the strength that emerges when we do this work together. \nThis is how resilience is grown. \nThis is how active hope takes root. \nThis is how we rise stronger\, clearer\, and connected. \nIf you feel called to meet yourself honestly in the space in between\, to tend the soil of your becoming\, and to move with what is ready to emerge\, you are warmly invited to join us. \n\n\n\nTICKETS AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION HERE \n\n\n\nMore about the event: \nSpring is not only about planting seeds\, it’s about tending the soil that allows life to emerge and grow. \nThis workshop offers a space to pause in the in-between\, the liminal space between intention and emergence\, between the seeds we’ve planted and their becoming\, a place to pause and tend the soil within\, to clear of it of any remaining debris so we may offer our seeds of intention the best conditions to grow wild\, free and strong. \nThrough creative expression\, embodied reflection and two conscious movement dance waves\, we’ll tend what is beneath the surface\, naming what has been heavy\, releasing what has been held\, and inviting the body back into aliveness\, play\, and possibility. \nWe are in the in-between. \nThe seeds have been planted\, \nIn the New Year\, \nIn the soil of our hearts\, \nIn our quiet intentions. \nAnd yet\, nothing has fully emerged. \nAt the threshold we stand\, \nBetween winter’s long nights and the lengthening days of spring\, \nBetween who we have been and what is asking to emerge\, \nBetween the shedding of old skins and the courage to become. \nHere we are\, \nIn the pause\, \nBetween dark and light\, \nWhere\, below the surface\, \nRoots are forming\, \nGrowth is asking for patience\, courage\, and care. \nThis space between seed and emergence can be tender. \nUncertain. Heavy. Unsettling. \nIn these times\, when the world feels fast\, fractured\, and demanding\, \nWe are called inward. \nNot to escape\, but to do the honest work that allows life to rise again. \n  \nMeet Johanne Ascoli\nJohanne Ascoli is a French Canadian soulcentric expressive arts therapist and dance journey facilitator who tends the thresholds where body\, soul\, imagination and play meet.\nRooted in trauma-informed\, somatic\, and earth-honouring practices\, she opens creative portals for healing and remembrance\, inviting people back into right relationship with their inner worlds\, with one another\, and with the living web of Life.\nHer work weaves expressive arts\, polyvagal theory\, deep ecology\, eco-psychology\, creative play\, imagination and deep soul listening into journeys to awaken the inner creator\, healer\, and wise self.\nShe lives at Abundance Community Farm\, a land-based project dedicated to decolonizing minds\, bodies\, and hearts on the unceded ancestral lands stolen from the Stó:lō People that settlers named Agassiz (British Columbia). \nCheck out Johanne’s website and social media: \nwww.expressyourheart.com |IG: @expressyourheart | FB: @expressyourheartwithme \n  \nMeet Hassti Hamidi\nHassti Hamidi is an open-format DJ who creates immersive\, multi-genre musical journeys. We welcome all gender identities\, races\, sizes\, sexual orientations\, abilities and disabilities\, all languages\, and anyone 18 and older! \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nWhat is Expressive Arts and Conscious Movement Journey? \nThis Expressive Arts and Conscious Movement Evening is a gentle\, guided experience that weaves together conscious movement and expressive arts as pathways for self-expression and inner exploration. Rather than following choreography or artistic rules\, participants are invited to move\, create\, and express freely\, allowing both movement and creative processes to emerge organically. \nThrough music\, movement\, and simple expressive art invitations\, this practice supports authentic self-expression and embodied awareness. It offers a supportive space to slow down\, release stress\, and reconnect with the wisdom of the body\, emotions\, and imagination. No prior dance or art experience is needed — curiosity and openness are enough.

Every story shared by him was a medicine pill that opened my heart and weaved along with the beautiful melodies from different parts of the world. I reflected for many days after the concert on what I heard – so I can definitely state that it is a very powerful concert: art at its full potential! Nikita Llerena – Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil. \nFrom the first chords\, I was involved in a hypnotizing\, contagious\, and poetic experience to say the least. Gabriel’s PrayerFormance is a blend of tango elegance\, Manu Chao’s energy\, Bob Marley’s activism\, and Jewish essence. His work speaks to everyone’s heart. SUMMARY:Ride The Rhythm (RtR): Improvised Singing- Vocal Jam
DESCRIPTION:The practice of improvised singing can be an intimate expression of our shared being. Each of us has a voice! We aim to find that voice! \nAre you ready to explore the magic of improvised singing and let your voice resonate freely with the rhythm of your heart? \nIn this singing circle\, we will come together as a smaller community to embrace the power of vocal expression\, creativity\, and unity (Up to 10 participants) Let your voice take flight in a safe and nurturing space where you can improvise\, harmonize\, and simply be YOU through the power of vocal expression. \n📅 Date: Sunday\, December 3rd and December 10th\, 2023 \n⏰ Time: 5:00 PM – 6:45 PM \n🚗 Note: Free street parking is available! \n💸 Ticket Price: $30 \nWe respectfully acknowledge that this event takes place on the traditional\, ancestral\, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish)\, and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. \nHow to get your ticket: \nChoose from one of the following options: \n– Reserve your spot with an e-transfer to ridetherhythmdance@gmail.com (No Security question and answer\, auto deposit) \n– Tickets are available on Eventbrite (Fees will apply) \n– Drop in and pay cash (Limited capacity\, please contact us to make sure tickets are available before heading to the venue) \nWhat is Vocal Expression through Improvised Singing Practice? \nThe art and practice of improvised singing can be an intimate expression of our shared being. Each of us has a voice whether we believe we can sing or not\, and that voice isn’t just in our throats – it’s in our entire body. This miracle of breath and vibration- our unique sound – can be released and shared with others through vocal expression. Improvised singing isn’t the same as choir practice or learning songs – those are wonderful too. But singing doesn’t need words and it doesn’t have to be someone’s idea of beautiful. It doesn’t have to be something composed by someone first. To make improv singing come alive all we really have to do is show up together\, listen to each other\, open our mouths and make some noise! The rest is practice\, practice\, practice. Soon the noise becomes something more\, something other. The art and practice of shared vocal expression are almost always fun and sometimes challenging as we learn some basic building blocks and techniques – but with these tools\, we can find new and wonderful ways to express ourselves and create together. \nIf these words are pointing in a direction you’d really like to travel in\, then join this group and let the journey begin!
