Class Description:

Embodied Movement is dancing through somatic exploration: finding pleasure and curiosity in physicality and expression.

Where do impulse and inspiration originate? How do they develop? Where do they take us? How can we let the body’s own intelligence and creativity guide our dance?

For this dance/movement journey we will use somatic prompts and exercises to come more fully into our bodies and our senses and from there, to access our own joyous, kooky, playful, and relational dance.

The class will be guided and improvisational, meaning that I will offer structure and suggestions to guide movement exploration as we seek new ways of moving and bring intentionality and awareness into our dynamic, fabulous, expressive selves.

All bodies, all ages welcome! No experience necessary, curiosity required.

About Zoe:

Zoe Jordan is a movement artist, researcher and facilitator. Her particular focus is movement improvisation—solo, partner, or group movement guided by impulse or sensation, prompt or concept, aesthetic or dynamic flow. Zoe has trained in numerous improvisation-based forms, including: Gaga, Logomotion, Action Theatre, clowning, contact improvisation, 5 Rhythms, Body Weather, somatic movement and more. Engaged in this exploration for over a decade, both in Canada and abroad, Zoe is a fiend for workshops (giving and taking), play and absurdity, and body-based inquiry in its many forms.
